Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box

Hello friends! This cute little box is so easy to make, perfect for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, party favors. All you have to do is change the pattern of the card stock for the appropriate occasion. You can also rubber stamp on plain card stock before folding the box.
A Ghirardelli Chocolate Square fits perfect in this box!
To make this box, you need two different patterns of card stock. I used the Romantique Collection from Prima Marketing, Gazette for the box, and Hedgerow for the triangles as you  can see in the picture bellow.

To create the box I used the "Grand Calibur" die cut machine by Spellbinders, which is ideal for die-cutting and embossing the folding lines of the box, and the "Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box" LF-008 die.

Die-cut and emboss the "Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box" die on pattern card stock, following the machine's instructions.

The embossing step here is very important because it creates the folding lines of the box.

To die-cut the triangles I prefer to put the pattern card stock on the Cutting plate first. Then lay the dies "cut side down" on the paper, this way you can see exactly where it is going to cut, and then put the Base plate on top. Roll through the machine this way to die-cut, and then emboss.

Glue the 6 triangle pieces to the box before folding. I like to add some distress ink to the edges with an applicator. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Age Mahogany.

Fold each petal down to the center to crease folding lines and then open them up.
To form the box, tuck each petal under each other in sequence in a clockwise motion. This may take a little bit of practice but it will become very easy as you repeat the process.
Here is the finished box, enjoy!!
